Trepathon Volusia 2019: Mission Possible

TREPathon is a unique entrepreneurial competition that gives young 'treps (trep-shortened word for entrepreneurship) the opportunity to organize their thoughts about an entrepreneurial idea or an existing business of theirs, compete against other students their age and if they want to continue, work to raise start-up funds and successfully launch their venture!  This is STEM Education at its best.  Solving a real-world problem and receiving some help along the way, is what application of the students' learning is all about.

Volusia County Schools, Bethune Cookman University and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University come together to showcase the problem-solvers in Volusia County's middle and high schools.

Students will be challenged to provide a solution for everyday problems identified from the seventeen UN Sustainability Goals.

The event takes place in the new student union building at the campus of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University on May 17th & 18th.  Each team of 3-5 students will brainstorm, design, and develop their solution in less than 24 hours.  Top, local entrepreneurs, business leaders and educators merge to support students in this endeavor.

For the culminating activity of Trepathon Volusia 2019, students will pitch their ideas to judges and potential investors.

Winners receive cash prizes and gear.  All students have the opportunity to participate in different workshop sessions that are designed to help students make the most of their 24 hours.  In addition, teams are assigned mentors from the local colleges and universities.

Bringing all the stakeholders to this, first ever, unique problem-solving event with the elements of STEM, grows our local entrepreneurial ecosystem that benefits Volusia and beyond.
